Milwaukee man charged after fatal shooting of girlfriend at home
A 41-year-old Milwaukee man has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide after prosecutors say he shot and killed his girlfriend at her home early Oct. 10. Tavarris Tramell Jones is accused of killing the woman following a dispute that began earlier that day, according to the criminal complaint. The woman had told Jones to move out and taken his keys, the complaint says. Later, after she went on a date with another man, Jones allegedly threatened her. A 9-year-old child in the home told investigators she saw Jones point a gun at her mother’s head and fire, the complaint says. It alleges Jones said the woman would not cheat on him again because she was dead. Video reportedly shows him leaving the scene at about 1:50 a.m. The woman’s older daughter, who had been asleep in another room, woke after hearing two loud bangs, according to the complaint. She found her mother unresponsive and bleeding on the couch and called 911. Milwaukee police arrived at about 2:38 a.m. and found the woman dead from gunshot wounds to the head and neck. Investigators recovered two shell casings near her body, the complaint says. Jones faces a mandatory life sentence if convicted. The allegations have not been proven in court.
