A single-engine plane carrying four people crashed in a cornfield near East Troy Municipal Airport on Sunday afternoon, sending three occupants to a hospital for medical evaluation, authorities said. The crash happened at about 1:30 p.m. near Carver School and Lawlor roads, just south of the airport. The fourth person aboard was evaluated at the scene and released, according to authorities. No further information about the occupants’ conditions was immediately available. Flight-tracking data showed the plane departed from the East Troy airport, circled back and crashed south of the airport. Firefighters said they learned of the crash from Sky Dive Milwaukee skydivers, who had jumped from another plane and landed nearby before helping at the scene. Federal Aviation Administration representatives arrived Sunday and met with local officials as the investigation began. Authorities restricted access to the crash site. The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
