Trump votes in West Palm Beach, says he backed Republicans across the ballot

President Donald Trump cast an early ballot in West Palm Beach on Saturday, telling reporters he voted for Republicans across the ticket in Florida’s midterm elections.

Trump and first lady Melania Trump went to the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections office after he spent the morning at a nearby golf course. Asked whether he had voted along party lines, Trump replied, “Very much so,” while wearing an “I Voted” sticker. He was headed to a rally in Georgia afterward.

The in-person vote followed years of Trump criticizing voting by mail, even as he has used that method himself. His choice to vote early in person put a spotlight on the different ways Florida voters can cast ballots ahead of Election Day.

At the polling place, Trump also defended an advertisement by Ohio Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy that has drawn criticism for featuring the estranged mother of Ramaswamy’s Democratic opponent, Dr. Amy Acton. Trump further defended directing his administration to pursue a lawsuit that would block certification of Alaska’s U.S. Senate race if Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan loses, citing the presence of another candidate named Dan Sullivan on the ballot.

Asked about the war in Iran, Trump said, “I may have to finish it off. Or maybe they’ll make a deal, but I’m not sure. Either way, we win.” Melania Trump, asked whether she might travel to Ukraine, replied, “We will see.”

In Florida, Trump has endorsed Republican U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds for governor. Donalds is running against David Jolly, a former Republican who later became an independent and then a Democrat, to succeed term-limited Gov. Ron DeSantis. Trump has also campaigned for Republican Sen. Ashley Moody, who is seeking the remaining two years of Marco Rubio’s former Senate term against state lawmaker Angie Nixon, a progressive Democrat.
