Trump brings Florida GOP campaign rally to FGCU as Nov. 3 voting nears

President Donald Trump is visiting Fort Myers on Friday, Oct. 23, for a Republican campaign rally at Alico Arena on the Florida Gulf Coast University campus, as the party seeks to mobilize voters ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm elections.

The rally, scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m., is intended in part to promote Republican gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds. Republican U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody is also expected to attend, according to the event announcement from the Republican Party of Florida.

The visit comes as early voting is underway across Florida and campaigns compete for support in closely watched races for governor, the U.S. Senate and congressional seats. Trump’s Fort Myers stop is part of a broader effort to campaign for Republican candidates, following recent appearances in Texas, Oklahoma and Iowa. Another rally is scheduled for Michigan on Sunday.

Florida Republican Party Chairman Evan Power said Trump would emphasize party priorities, including tax cuts and policies affecting seniors and working families. “Every election counts. It is all about turnout now,” Power said in a statement announcing the rally.

The event brings a national campaign push to Southwest Florida at a pivotal point in the state’s election season, with voters already able to cast ballots before Election Day.
