Two brothers killed in West Perrine apartment; 20-year-old charged

A 20-year-old South Miami resident has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of two brothers at a West Perrine apartment, according to court and arrest records.

Miami-Dade sheriff’s deputies responded shortly after 5:20 p.m. Sept. 9 to an apartment near Southwest 102nd Avenue and 175th Street. They found Osvaldo Martinez, 16, and Alexis Martinez, 19, bleeding in the master bedroom. Fire rescue personnel pronounced both brothers dead, according to the arrest report.

Detectives identified Kyan Davis as a suspect after reviewing footage from a Ring camera, the report said. During questioning at the sheriff’s homicide bureau on Sept. 19, Davis acknowledged being inside the apartment, according to the report.

A witness told deputies that the witness and Davis would allegedly draw people in with offers to sell cannabis pens or other drugs and then rob them, the report said. The report does not detail what role, if any, that alleged scheme played in the brothers’ deaths.

Davis was arrested Friday and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center near Doral shortly before 7:25 p.m. Saturday, inmate records show. He was being held at the pretrial detention center Monday morning.

In addition to the murder counts, court records show Davis faces two counts of possessing a weapon as a convicted felon and two counts of battery by a detainee in separate pending cases. The allegations have not been proven in court.
