Tamarac homicide case: judge orders screening for man accused of killing his mother
A 28-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing his mother in Tamarac is being held without bond and has been ordered to undergo a mental health screening, authorities said. Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded at about 7:45 p.m. Friday to a reported stabbing in the 5300 block of Northwest 28th Avenue. They found 58-year-old Ylda Cabello-Ynocente with multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Manuel Farfan-Cabello was arrested that night and later appeared in bond court before being taken to the Broward County Main Jail. The allegations have not been proven in court. Relatives described the family as devastated. Cabello-Ynocente’s sister-in-law said Farfan-Cabello has schizophrenia. That account has not been independently confirmed, and the ordered screening is not a determination of his mental state or criminal responsibility. Neighbors said they had seen Farfan-Cabello behaving erratically in the area before the killing. One neighbor recalled that police had been called to the area previously; another expressed sympathy for the family. The family is working to arrange for Cabello-Ynocente’s remains to be sent to Peru. Farfan-Cabello remains in custody without bond.
