Three people were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries early Monday after a BMW fled a Florida Highway Patrol traffic stop and crashed on the Palmetto Expressway in Miami Lakes, authorities said.
Troopers stopped the speeding BMW at about 4:13 a.m. on State Road 826 near 47th Avenue, according to FHP. The car drove off during the stop, and troopers pursued it.
During the pursuit, the BMW left the roadway, went down a shoulder embankment, struck a culvert drain and overturned, FHP said. A patrol cruiser also went down the embankment and collided with the BMW. The trooper driving the cruiser was not injured.
The three occupants of the BMW were taken to a hospital. FHP reported no arrests.
