Five named defendants face charges in South Florida bank-fraud probe
Authorities say a suspected scheme involving fraudulent wire transfers caused tens of thousands of dollars in losses to financial institutions across South Florida. Five named defendants are charged; police records list another co-defendant, but it is unclear whether that person has been arrested or what charges they may face.
Five people are facing charges over an alleged bank-fraud and money-laundering scheme that authorities say cost financial institutions tens of thousands of dollars across South Florida.
The named defendants are Lisa Fung Dyer, Leigh-Ann Martinez, Lynsey Mae Fuller, Michael Omai and Krishon Anthony Dyer. They face charges including money laundering, organized fraud, grand theft and fraud against a financial institution, according to authorities. The information available does not specify which charges apply to each person.
Authorities allege that funds from fraudulent wire transfers were deposited into bank accounts and then moved through checks, additional transfers and business accounts before banks could recover the money.
Police records also list a co-defendant, but it is unclear whether that person has been arrested or what charges they may face. The defendants were scheduled to appear at an initial hearing Tuesday, Oct. 13. The allegations have not been proven in court.
