A 15-year-old boy was arrested Sunday in connection with a shooting near Florida A&M University’s Bragg Memorial Stadium that injured 12 people, Tallahassee police said.
The shooting happened Saturday near Perry and Manatee streets, police said. The injured included minors. Police said a physical altercation preceded the gunfire and investigators believe the incident began with a dispute between people who knew one another. None of the injured appeared to be an intended target, according to police.
The teen faces 11 counts of attempted second-degree murder and a charge of possessing a firearm. The allegations have not been proven in court.
Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell said the arrest was an important step, but investigators were continuing their work to determine what happened and provide answers to the affected families. He said a weekend celebration had instead become a night of fear and violence for victims and their relatives.
