Flooding reported from Pompano Beach to Miramar as rain soaks South Florida
Heavy weekend rain left water on streets in Pompano Beach, Hallandale Beach and Miramar on Sunday morning, affecting traffic in some areas. More rain was expected through the morning, followed by a windy afternoon.
South Florida woke to flooded streets Sunday, Oct. 18, after a night of downpours that stretched from Broward County to Miami-Dade County.
Water was reported near Northeast 20th Avenue and Atlantic Boulevard in Pompano Beach, along Hallandale Beach Boulevard and on roads in Miramar, where standing water affected traffic. Slow rain early Sunday kept conditions saturated, according to local observations.
The wet weather followed heavy showers Saturday night, including during the University of Miami–Florida State football game at Hard Rock Stadium. Rain also fell over Wynwood as the Three Points music festival continued.
Rain was expected to persist through Sunday morning before giving way to windy conditions in the afternoon. No rainfall totals or specific flood warnings were included in the available forecast details.
