Dania Beach woman charged after man killed in Sheridan Street hit-and-run
A 21-year-old woman was arrested after a man was found dead following a hit-and-run early Saturday in Dania Beach. Investigators say vehicle parts recovered at the scene helped identify the car and its suspected driver.
A 21-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Dania Beach, where a man was found dead in the street early Saturday, Broward County authorities said.
Keila Maldonado was taken into custody after the crash, which happened around 1:30 a.m. near the 200 block of Sheridan Street. First responders found the man in the roadway; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not publicly identified him.
Investigators examined evidence at the scene, including pieces they said came from Maldonado’s Hyundai Sonata. Detectives used those parts to identify the vehicle’s make and model and determine who they believe was driving, according to authorities.
Maldonado faces charges of failing to remain at an accident scene involving a death and tampering with evidence. As of Sunday afternoon, she was being held at Broward Main Jail on $51,000 bond. The charges are allegations, and the case will proceed through the court system.
