Boca Raton arrest follows threatening voicemail to Jared Moskowitz’s campaign office

A man was arrested in Boca Raton after leaving a voicemail at U.S. Rep. Jared Moskowitz’s Coral Springs campaign office threatening to physically harm the congressman, according to information released Wednesday, Oct. 22.

Moskowitz said the man, a resident of his district, was in the Palm Beach County Jail. The district includes parts of Broward and Palm Beach counties. The man’s identity had not been made public, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement had been contacted for more information.

Moskowitz said he and his family were safe. The arrest was made in Boca Raton, a few miles from his home.

Scott Singer, the Republican running against Moskowitz in Florida’s 25th Congressional District, condemned political violence and threats in a statement posted online.

Moskowitz has faced threats before. In 2024, an armed person was involved in what was described as a potential assassination attempt against him. Separately, police were investigating a suspicious envelope reported Monday at U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s office in Sunrise; the envelope remained unopened, according to police.
