Muscoda police Officer Katelyn Fleischauer died in an accidental drowning, according to the department, which said Tuesday that its initial investigation and an autopsy support that conclusion.
Officers responded shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday to a residence on East Catherine Street, where they found an unresponsive woman in an indoor heated pool. Police identified her as Fleischauer and said she had died. The department asked the Grant County Sheriff’s Office to assist with the investigation.
Fleischauer had served with the Muscoda Police Department for 12 years. Funeral arrangements and details about law enforcement honors are expected to be announced later, the department said.
