A Wisconsin judge lowered Benjamin Larson’s bond from $250,000 to $150,000 on Monday and ruled that he must hire a private attorney before his next court appearance. Larson was initially charged with stalking in Dane County. During the investigation, officials found human skulls, serial-killer memorabilia and journals detailing stalking behaviors at a home in Fond du Lac County, according to the case information presented in court. He also faces charges of concealing stolen property, obstruction and bail jumping. Judge Douglas Edelstein considered Larson’s income and assets in deciding whether the county should continue paying for his public defender. “I’m uncertain, given your assets, whether or not the county should be the one to front the costs of your legal fees,” Edelstein said. Larson is due back in court Nov. 5 and must arrange legal representation by then. The charges are allegations; the court proceedings will determine how the case moves forward.
