BELLEVILLE, Wis. — Schools in the Belleville School District briefly went into lockdown Tuesday morning as staff responded to an “unexpected situation,” district leaders said. The district said the precaution was taken out of an abundance of caution and that there was no threat to the schools or students. The lockdown was lifted, and school activities continued as scheduled Tuesday. District officials thanked students and staff for following safety procedures, responding quickly and remaining calm. They also acknowledged that lockdown alerts can be stressful for families. “Please rest assured that our top priority right now is supporting all of our students, helping them feel secure, and addressing any emotional needs as they settle back into their routines,” district leaders said. No additional details about the situation were released.
