Bedroom fire forces three residents from Janesville apartment

Three people were displaced after a bedroom fire broke out early Saturday in a multi-unit apartment building in the 3200 block of Vold Court in Janesville, fire officials said.

The Janesville Fire Department was called shortly after 2:30 a.m. Crews found the fire in a second-floor apartment and checked the rest of the building for signs that flames had spread. Firefighters put out the blaze in less than an hour.

The three residents of the affected apartment could not return home. Other tenants were allowed back into their apartments once crews determined the building was safe. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Fire Department urged residents to use care with candles and other burning materials. The Lakeside Fire Department and Janesville Police Department also responded.
