Kevon Lawless sentenced to 35 years in deaths of Louisville father and daughter
Kevon Lawless pleaded guilty to murdering Brandon Waddles and Waddles’ 3-year-old daughter, Trinity Randolph, in 2020. The plea resolves the case after Kentucky’s Supreme Court overturned Lawless’ earlier convictions over evidence presented to the jury.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kevon Lawless pleaded guilty to murder Thursday in the 2020 killings of Brandon Waddles and Waddles’ 3-year-old daughter, Trinity Randolph, and was sentenced to 35 years in prison.
Lawless had previously been serving two life sentences for the killings. The Kentucky Supreme Court overturned his convictions last year, ruling the case should have ended in a mistrial because jurors heard information about a witness that they should not have heard.
Lawless was arrested again in November after the convictions were thrown out. His guilty plea and sentence bring the case back to a resolution, six years after Waddles and Trinity were killed.
