Anchorage seventh grader turns lawn-care skills into free neighborhood help
ANCHORAGE, Ky. — When seventh grader Charlie Mullaney has time outside school, sports and reading, he puts his lawn-care equipment to work on overgrown yards in his community — without charging residents. “I decided to go into a neighborhood and just cut lawns for free that were overgrown, and use my gear to give back to the community when I had extra time,” Mullaney said. He also runs a home and lawn-care business and began posting videos of his work to YouTube in July. Mullaney said he had watched other channels and decided to start making his own videos, which capture the change as lawns are cut and porches are power-washed. His father, Greg, said he enjoys watching the work and is proud to see his son eager to help others. The family, he said, has “been given a lot,” making Mullaney’s choice to give back especially meaningful. Mullaney said the experience has taught him to be kind, adding that people may respond by giving back, too.
