United flight to Newark returns to Harry Reid after crew reports onboard disturbance

A United Airlines flight bound for Newark returned to Harry Reid International Airport late Saturday after its crew reported a passenger disturbance, prompting what the airline called a “potential security concern.”

United Flight 1681, a Boeing 737 carrying 150 passengers and six crew members, landed in Las Vegas at about 11:05 p.m., according to information from the airport and airline. No injuries were reported.

The plane turned back shortly after takeoff, the airport said. The FAA said in a preliminary statement that the aircraft returned safely and the agency will investigate. Details about the disturbance were not provided in the information released.

United said the flight was delayed overnight because the crew reached its duty-time limit. The plane departed for Newark Liberty International Airport the following morning.
