Sloan Lane bridge connects East Valley roads after $13.9 million build
The new bridge links Ruby Creek Drive with Vegas Valley Drive across the Las Vegas Wash, shortening some local trips. Nearby residents welcomed the easier connection but also voiced concern about added traffic and noise.
A new bridge extending Sloan Lane across the Las Vegas Wash is now open, connecting Ruby Creek Drive and Vegas Valley Drive in the East Valley after a nearly $13.9 million construction project.
Clark County began work in September 2025. The project also included pavement, curb and streetlight improvements, along with new signs and road markings.
County Commissioner Tick Segerblom said in a social media post that the connection could save residents more than a mile of driving. Helena Clark, who lives nearby and owns a karate studio in the area, said her drive to the studio is now more than a mile and a half shorter.
But the new route has also raised concerns among some neighbors. Resident Quinn Taligatos said they valued the area's quiet and worried that more cars would use the road as a shortcut. They acknowledged the bridge could make it easier to reach the Vegas Valley Drive side.
The opening brings a direct road connection between the two communities, while leaving residents to adjust to the traffic changes that may follow.
