One driver was killed and another was hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash on Lake Mead Parkway, about a half-mile east of the Lake Las Vegas entrance, Henderson police said.

Officers arrived at about 8:25 p.m. Each vehicle had one occupant. One driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was taken to a local hospital. Police did not release further details about the crash or the drivers.

Lake Mead Parkway was closed in both directions between Lake Las Vegas Parkway and the entrance station to Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The closure was expected to last for an extended period, and drivers were urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
