Runway incident involving private jet prompts flight delays at Harry Reid airport
A Dassault Falcon 50 went off the end of a runway during a planned takeoff Sunday morning and struck a perimeter fence at Harry Reid International Airport. No injuries were reported, but runway inspections and a temporary FAA pause on incoming flights caused delays.
A private jet ran off the end of a runway and hit a perimeter fence during a planned takeoff Sunday at Harry Reid International Airport, prompting temporary flight disruptions at Las Vegas’ main airport.
The incident happened about 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, and involved a Dassault Falcon 50, airport spokesperson Monika Bertaki said. No injuries were reported. Bertaki did not provide a cause for the aircraft leaving the runway.
Two runways were closed for inspection after the jet struck the fence. The Federal Aviation Administration also temporarily paused planned flights to the airport, causing delays.
Harry Reid handled more than 34 million passengers and recorded over 370,000 aircraft operations through August 2026, underscoring the airport’s role as a major travel hub for Southern Nevada.
