A 43-year-old man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a vehicle struck him and his dog while he crossed North Buffalo Drive Sunday evening. Las Vegas police say the pedestrian was outside a marked or implied crosswalk; the crash remains under investigation.
A 43-year-old pedestrian was critically injured and his dog was killed Sunday evening after they were struck by a vehicle on North Buffalo Drive, north of Cobal Canyon Lane, Las Vegas police said.
The collision was reported at about 6:47 p.m. Police said evidence indicates a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling south in the left lane when it hit the man and dog as they crossed the road outside a marked or implied crosswalk.
The man was taken to University Medical Center’s Trauma Center, where he was determined to have life-threatening injuries. The dog died at the scene, according to police.
The Hyundai driver was not injured, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said the driver showed no signs of impairment.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section is investigating.
