Henderson’s Cowabunga Bay will stay closed in 2027 as owners shift focus to Summerlin

Cowabunga Bay, a waterpark at 900 Galleria Drive in Henderson, will not reopen for the 2027 summer season after 12 years of operation, its ownership group announced this week.

The owners, operating as Cowabunga Vegas, said they believe they can better serve the Las Vegas area by focusing on Cowabunga Canyon in Summerlin. That park will remain open and is expected to operate during the 2027 summer season. Guests who bought a Cowabunga Vegas 2027 season pass can use it at the Summerlin location.

Cowabunga Canyon was renovated and rebranded in 2022. The ownership group said it intends to continue investing in the park and improving the visitor experience. Further details about its 2027 season are expected later.

A spokesperson for the owners said the decision to close the Henderson park was difficult, noting that families had gathered there and made summer memories for more than a decade. Cowabunga Bay opened in 2014 and drew visitors from Henderson and other Southern Nevada communities.

The Henderson property will be maintained and secured while the ownership group considers its future. No plans for the site have been announced.
