A security officer and two other people were taken to a hospital after a shooting Sunday evening at the Bonneville Transit Center in downtown Las Vegas, according to Inter-Con Security and local reporting. The third person hospitalized was the suspect, the report said.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers received a call about the shooting at 6:49 p.m. The transit center is near Bonneville Avenue and South First Street.

Ruslen Brown, who was helping his brother move nearby, said he heard about five or more gunshots. He went toward the scene after retrieving a medical kit from his car and described people shouting and taking cover.

Brown said he saw two security officers and a handcuffed person on the ground. He described the person as bleeding from the right thigh and left shoulder. Police had not publicly detailed the events leading up to the shooting in the information available Monday.

Inter-Con Security said the injured officer’s training and quick response helped defuse the situation. The company said it was cooperating with the police investigation and would not discuss specific circumstances while the inquiry continued.

The shooting injured people at a public transit hub used by riders and transit workers. Authorities have not released further details about the injured people or the suspect.
