F1 bridge installation to close Flamingo-Koval intersection until Friday night
The Flamingo-Koval intersection will be closed through 9 p.m. Friday as crews install a temporary vehicle bridge for the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Drivers should expect backups along Flamingo and Koval, though access to nearby hotels, parking and gas stations is expected to remain open.
LAS VEGAS — The intersection of Flamingo Road and Koval Lane will be closed until 9 p.m. Friday while crews install a temporary vehicle bridge for the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, according to race transportation information.
The closure is expected to cause substantial delays on Flamingo, with backups stretching toward Las Vegas Boulevard and Paradise Road, and on Koval toward Harmon Avenue and Sands Avenue. Drivers who can avoid the area are advised to take another route.
Access is expected to remain available to nearby properties, including the Westin, Platinum Hotel, Tuscany Suites & Casino, the Caesars employee parking lot and gas stations at Flamingo and Koval. F1 has published property-specific entry and exit instructions online.
The work adds to existing construction and traffic impacts around the resort corridor. Last Wednesday, one driver reported spending about 20 minutes getting past Las Vegas Boulevard on Flamingo and another 30 minutes reaching Koval. Overnight lane restrictions for Clark County’s Flamingo pedestrian bridge rehabilitation project also contributed to congestion, alongside Grand Prix preparations.
The temporary bridge installation is one of the major construction projects tied to the race. The full intersection closure is scheduled to end Friday evening.
