Arville bus operations continue during repairs to damaged power system
A non-district vehicle hit a transformer serving Clark County School District’s Arville transportation and maintenance yard, disrupting electrical equipment. The district said buses would keep serving students while crews worked to restore power, with service expected Tuesday.
Clark County School District buses operating from its Arville Yard continued serving students after a vehicle struck a transformer and disrupted power at the Las Vegas-area facility, the district said Monday, Oct. 20.
The vehicle was not owned by the district. The collision affected electrical equipment at the yard, which supports school bus transportation and maintenance. Repairs were underway, and the district expected power service to be restored Tuesday, Oct. 21. Electricity would remain shut off in areas where needed until work was complete, officials said.
Maintenance employees were moved to other yards. District administrators remained at Arville to assist drivers and repair technicians, while office staff were reassigned elsewhere to stay in contact with drivers on their routes.
NV Energy said its crews responded Monday afternoon and de-energized the facility at the customer’s request. The district did not report any interruption to student bus service.
