Alejandro Estrada pleads guilty in fatal Smith’s shooting; sentencing set for Nov. 25

Alejandro Estrada pleaded guilty to two counts of murder with use of a deadly weapon in the May 12 shooting deaths of Amanda Frias Rosas and her husband, Victor Frias Rosas, inside a Smith’s grocery store in southwest Las Vegas.

Court records show Estrada’s plea was filed Oct. 14. Under the agreement, he faces consecutive sentences of 28 years to life on each count in the Nevada Department of Corrections. He is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 25.

Police said Estrada followed the couple down an aisle at the store near Maryland Parkway and Silverado Ranch Boulevard, then opened fire. Amanda Frias Rosas was the mother of Estrada’s two children. The couple were pronounced dead after the shooting.

Estrada, who was arrested May 12, initially pleaded not guilty on May 18 and remained in jail while the case proceeded. The guilty pleas bring the case to the sentencing phase.
