Orlando jury convicts man in $760,000 Tiffany jewelry heist

An Orlando jury found Jaythan Gilder guilty of robbery and grand theft in connection with the theft of more than $760,000 in jewelry from the Tiffany & Co. store at the Mall at Millenia, prosecutors said Friday, Oct. 23.

The case stems from a February 2025 incident. According to the State Attorney’s Office, Gilder presented himself as someone negotiating a jewelry purchase for a professional basketball player, then grabbed merchandise and tried to escape. Prosecutors said he used force against a store employee during the attempted getaway.

After his arrest, Gilder swallowed the stolen earrings in an effort to conceal them, prosecutors said. Authorities monitored him for nearly two weeks before recovering the jewelry.

State Attorney Monique Worrell said the case involved both a substantial financial loss and risks to employees doing their jobs. Her office said sentencing information would be released later.
