Developer unveils riverfront tower vision for Duval schools headquarters site

The developer buying Duval County Public Schools’ longtime headquarters on Jacksonville’s Southbank says it plans to build riverfront condominiums and hotel space on the property.

Ashco Centers founder Edward Ashurian announced the proposal Oct. 16, describing the site at 1701 Prudential Drive as a major waterfront opportunity. Renderings released with the announcement show two 20-story towers.

The proposal would place new residential and hotel development beside the St. Johns River, which Ashurian said should be central to downtown life. The school district’s headquarters has been a longtime presence on the property, which the district is selling.
