Crandall school tax measure would raise $1.29 million in local operating revenue
Crandall ISD voters will decide whether to ratify a tax rate that the district says would support employee pay and add campus and classroom staff as enrollment grows. The ballot measure projects an additional $1,288,613 in maintenance and operations revenue for the current year.
Crandall Independent School District voters will decide Nov. 3 whether to approve a property tax rate that the district says would help fund employee compensation and add non-administrative campus personnel and classroom support as the district grows.
Proposition A asks voters to ratify a rate of $1.1964 per $100 of assessed value for the current year. The ballot language says the rate would produce a 7.04% increase in maintenance and operations tax revenue over the previous year, or an additional $1,288,613.
The district estimates that approval would generate about $4 million in additional operating revenue, with roughly 80% of that amount coming from the state. The measure requires voters to choose “For” or “Against.”
Early voting runs Oct. 19 through Oct. 30. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
The proposal would affect the district’s maintenance and operations funding, which pays for day-to-day services rather than construction projects. The district says it wants the revenue to support staff compensation and classroom needs as enrollment increases.
