Plano consultants to assess traffic, emergency staffing for proposed Stars district
Plano is set to hear the first results of consultant studies on a proposed Dallas Stars arena and entertainment district at Willow Bend Mall, including potential traffic, public safety and neighborhood impacts. The review, scheduled for Monday night, will also examine whether Plano’s financing plan is viable. Representatives of the city’s police and fire departments are expected to address whether they would have enough staff to serve the arena while meeting existing city needs. The proposed arena and entertainment district is estimated to cost $3 billion. Plano would contribute no more than $700 million, and residents are expected to vote on a bond to finance the project in November. The Stars announced plans over the summer to move to Plano. Monday’s meeting will not include public comment. Residents can submit questions to the Willow Bend Advisory Committee at a town hall scheduled for Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
