Everman vigil for Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez set for Saturday evening

EVERMAN, Texas — Residents, first responders and community groups are invited to gather Saturday evening to remember Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez, the 6-year-old whose disappearance and death drew attention across North Texas.

The city plans to hold a candlelight vigil at 6 p.m. Oct. 24 at Clyde Pittman Park, 300 Wichita St. Attendees are encouraged to wear light blue, which city officials say was Noel’s favorite color.

The gathering comes as Noel’s family prepares for a private funeral. City officials said the vigil will give people who followed his case an opportunity to honor his memory and support his family.

Noel’s remains were found in May, buried at the property where he lived with his mother, Cindy Rodriguez. She has been charged with capital murder. A charge is an allegation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

The park is near the Noel Angel-Alvarez Playground, an inclusive play space named in Noel’s honor by the Everman City Council in 2023. The city established it as a lasting memorial and a place where children of all abilities can play and spend time together.
