A 6-year-old child was found safe Monday after a vehicle carrying the child was stolen from a Walmart fuel center in Crowley, police said. Officers tracked the vehicle into Fort Worth using the Flock camera system and arrested a suspect with help from Fort Worth police and the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office. Crowley police said they responded to the reported theft at the Walmart in the 1300 block of East FM 1187 on Oct. 12. The vehicle was traveling north toward Fort Worth when officers used camera footage to follow its route. Police located it in the 1200 block of West Spurgeon Street. The child was inside and unharmed, and was reunited with family, police said. The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Manuel Hernandez, ran from the vehicle on foot but was later found and taken into custody. Hernandez faces charges of kidnapping, theft, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance. He was being held at the Crowley Police Department, according to police. The motive was not known, and police said they believed the incident was isolated and posed no further threat to the public. Crowley police credited the Fort Worth Police Department and Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office with assisting in the search and arrest.
