KEMBA members face access and call-center problems during digital banking switch
Some KEMBA Financial Credit Union members said they lost access to the former mobile app and struggled to download the replacement after a planned online banking upgrade. KEMBA said accounts and funds remain secure, while acknowledging increased customer-service wait times during the transition.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Some KEMBA Financial Credit Union members reported trouble accessing digital banking services Wednesday after the credit union moved customers to a new online banking platform.
Customers said access to the previous mobile app had been discontinued and that they were unable to download or use the replacement app. Some also reported difficulty reaching KEMBA’s customer-service team.
KEMBA said the change was part of a planned conversion and that the former mobile banking app was retired when the new platform launched. The credit union said it was not aware of a problem preventing members from downloading the new app.
The institution said it had contacted members several times ahead of the transition. It also acknowledged that call volumes had increased as customers moved to the new system, resulting in longer wait times for customer service.
“Members continue to have full access to accounts during this time, and funds are safe and secure,” KEMBA said in a statement. The credit union added that it was working to assist members who need help accessing or navigating the new digital banking system.
The replacement app is available through Apple’s App Store and Google Play. KEMBA has also posted frequently asked questions and transition information on its website.
