Driver killed after pickup hits parked tractor-trailer on south Columbus ramp
A Chevrolet utility truck left the U.S. 23 South ramp from I-270 East and struck a parked tractor-trailer Thursday evening, Franklin County authorities said. The pickup’s driver died at the scene; the semi-truck driver was not hurt.
A driver died Thursday evening after a Chevrolet utility truck veered off a south Columbus ramp and crashed into a parked tractor-trailer, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened at about 5:50 p.m. on the U.S. Route 23 South entrance ramp from Interstate 270 East. The 2018 Chevrolet went off the roadway, crossed a ditch and struck the trailer of a Freightliner tractor-trailer that was stopped along the ramp, the sheriff’s office said.
The pickup driver was pronounced dead at 6:06 p.m. The Freightliner’s driver was not injured. Authorities have not released either driver’s identity and have not said why the Chevrolet left the road.
