Columbus murder suspect held on $2 million bond after Logan arrest
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Jacob Iams, charged in the fatal stabbing of Brandon Parsons, appeared in Columbus Municipal Court Friday after authorities arrested him in Logan and brought him back to Columbus. A judge set Iams’ bond at $2 million, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 16, according to court documents. Police say Parsons was found with a stab wound to his chest around 12:40 a.m. Oct. 5 near Cleveland and Reynolds avenues in the Milo-Grogan neighborhood. Officers tried to save him, but he died at a hospital at 1:15 a.m. A witness told police the two men had argued before the stabbing. According to police, Parsons identified Iams at the scene, saying, “Jacob stabbed me.” Investigators say Iams left in a blue hatchback and later called the witness to say he was leaving the Columbus area. Iams was arrested in Logan about 10 hours after the stabbing, police said. He was extradited to Columbus on Thursday and arraigned the following morning. The charge remains an allegation, and Iams is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
