Columbus-area dining shifts bring new cafes and eateries as True Food Kitchen exits Easton
New restaurants have opened in New Albany, Worthington, Dublin, Bethel Road and Canal Winchester, while Enchantea has reopened after a remodel. True Food Kitchen closed its Easton Town Center restaurant amid the chain’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
A wave of openings and changes has reshaped the Columbus-area dining scene this fall, with new Mexican, Japanese and Cajun options arriving in several communities and True Food Kitchen closing its Easton Town Center location.
Braseros Bar & Grill opened in mid-September at 5924 Old Hamilton Road in New Albany. The family-owned Mexican restaurant serves more than 50 dishes, including tacos, tamales, carnitas and quesadillas, prepared with an open-flame grill. It is open daily, with later hours on Fridays and Saturdays.
In northeast Columbus, Cedar Mediterranean Grill opened in early September at 5326 N. Hamilton Road, taking over the space previously occupied by Mezze Mediterranean Cuisine. Mezze closed in August after 15 years. Cedar serves customizable bowls, wraps and pitas.
Worthington has a new Mexican restaurant as well. El Burrito Bowl opened in early September at 455 E. Wilson Bridge Road, with dishes including enchiladas suizas, carnitas and quesabirrias. It is open Monday through Saturday.
Enchantea reopened Sept. 25 as Enchantea 2.0 at 881 Bethel Road, following a closure for renovations that began at the end of June. Its expanded menu includes matcha sourced from a farm in China’s Yunnan province, tea and fruit drinks, gelato and chocolate. The shop also plans evening service called Tea After Dark, featuring tea-based cocktails.
In Canal Winchester, Cajun food truck Jam Jam has set up inside Sweet Harmony Kitchen, a live-music bar at 30 Liberty St. Owner Justin Boehme previously ran Da Levee in the Short North, which closed in 2018. Jam Jam serves Louisiana dishes such as jambalaya, gumbo and étouffée and is open Tuesday through Thursday evenings.
Domo Sushi Kitchen opened a second location, Mr. DOMO, at 3 N. High St. in Dublin. The restaurant occupies the former Mr. Sushi space and is owned by Daniel Kim, who opened the original Domo in the Short North in 2023.
A Japanese-inspired cafe, Sora Cafe, also opened in the Bethel Center Mall at 1462 Bethel Road, the former site of Cha Sha & Coffee. Owners David Mei and Sarah Cai offer specialty matcha and coffee drinks, including ube café latte and banana cream coffee. The cafe is open Thursday through Sunday.
The openings come alongside a closure at Easton Town Center. True Food Kitchen shut its restaurant at 4052 Worth Ave. after the Arizona-based chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this month. The company has closed 12 locations, leaving 34 restaurants operating in 14 states. The Easton restaurant opened in 2020.
