Westbound I-80 was closed near La Grange Road in Mokena on Friday after a semitruck struck the concrete barrier separating eastbound and westbound traffic, causing both trailers it was pulling to detach, Illinois State Police said.

The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. No one was injured, but crews blocked all westbound lanes while emergency responders worked and the trailers were cleared. Traffic was directed off the highway at La Grange Road.

The two trailers were left leaning against the barrier, according to aerial video from the scene. All westbound lanes remained closed at 1:40 p.m., with significant backups reported.

Mokena police said they did not know when the road would reopen and urged drivers to use alternate routes.
