Wing drone deliveries now available at seven Walmart stores near Charlotte
Walmart and drone company Wing began serving seven stores across the Charlotte region on Oct. 21, with two more locations planned. Eligible shoppers can check coverage and place orders through Wing’s app, with delivery estimated as quickly as 30 minutes.
Shoppers in parts of the Charlotte region can now order Walmart goods for delivery by drone, following the launch of a service run by Walmart and delivery company Wing on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
The service is available from seven Walmart Supercenters: 1011 Shelby Road in Kings Mountain; 2420 Supercenter Drive NE in Kannapolis; 705 E. Dixon Boulevard in Shelby; 150 Concord Commons Place SW in Concord; 306 N. Generals Boulevard in Lincolnton; 1830 Galleria Boulevard in Charlotte; and 223 N. Myrtle School Road in Gastonia.
Walmart plans to add two more Charlotte stores: 9820 Callabridge Court and 3850 E. Independence Boulevard. No launch date for those locations was provided.
Customers can enter their address on Wing’s Charlotte service page to see whether delivery is available. Those in eligible areas must download the Wing app, place an order and select a delivery spot. The app lets customers track the drone, and Wing says deliveries may arrive in as little as 30 minutes after an order is placed.
The Charlotte-area launch adds the service to a roster that already includes Atlanta, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and Orlando. Walmart has also announced plans to expand drone delivery to other U.S. cities, including Denver, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, San Diego and Seattle.
