Suspect arrested after chase from Chester County into Lancaster County; driver remains missing
Lamon Jones was arrested after deputies say he pointed a gun at officers during a pursuit that began near Fort Lawn on Oct. 1. The driver, identified as Quinteries Clinton, escaped into the woods and had not been found as of Oct. 6.
A late-night pursuit that began in Chester County and crossed into Lancaster County ended with one arrest and a search for a driver who escaped on foot, according to deputies.
Deputies said they tried to stop a car driven by Quinteries Clinton around 11 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, as part of a narcotics investigation near Fort Lawn. Clinton sped away, and officers used stop sticks, flattening the car’s front tires. The vehicle continued along Highway 9 toward Lancaster County.
During the pursuit, deputies said passenger Lamon Jones threw evidence from the car and pointed a gun at officers. Near the Catawba River, officers used a police intervention maneuver to stop the vehicle. Jones and Clinton ran into nearby woods, where deputies recovered a gun and arrested Jones.
Clinton remained at large after deputies searched the area with a drone and K-9 team. A search of the vehicle reportedly turned up nearly an ounce of methamphetamine.
Records list Jones as facing charges of methamphetamine trafficking, cocaine possession, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, pointing and presenting a firearm, and resisting arrest with a deadly weapon. The allegations have not been proven in court.
