Mooresville ranch wagon accident leaves woman dead; two others were also thrown

A woman critically injured in a horse-drawn wagon accident at Lazy 5 Ranch in Mooresville has died, her son said Thursday, Oct. 22.

The accident happened Saturday, Oct. 17, in Iredell County. The woman’s son, Eddie Quesenberry, had said his mother and aunt were seriously hurt when a tree branch struck the wagon. Lazy 5 Ranch said the horses jumped after the wagon hit the branch, throwing three people to the ground. All three were hospitalized.

Quesenberry previously said his mother suffered severe head trauma and was expected to spend several months in the hospital. In a Facebook post announcing her death, he said she was an organ donor and that her generosity could bring hope to others even as the family grieved.

The condition of Quesenberry’s aunt was not disclosed in the information available Thursday. The ranch had not publicly provided further details about the incident.
