York County water tests prompt boil notice in five Fort Mill-area locations

York County officials issued a boil-water advisory Thursday, Oct. 22, for five locations in the Fort Mill and Tega Cay area after routine water testing found elevated levels of E. coli and total coliform.

The advisory applies to residents in the Hawks Creek and Waterstone neighborhoods, the Palmetto West neighborhood, and along Stockbridge Drive and Coralstone Drive. Officials said people in the affected areas should bring water to a vigorous boil for at least one full minute before using it for drinking or cooking.

Residents should use bottled or boiled water that has cooled for drinking, brushing teeth, washing produce, preparing food or baby formula, making ice, and providing water to pets. The Town of Fort Mill said its utility customers are not included in the advisory.
