A 24-year-old woman sought in connection with a stabbing in Huntersville was arrested Thursday, Oct. 8, in Hollywood, Florida, and is awaiting extradition to North Carolina. Cassandra Risso was apprehended near North Surf Road and Pierce Street, according to the report. She is wanted on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. The charge is an allegation, and the case remains pending. Huntersville police responded to a home on Windy Lea Lane near McCoy Road at about 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6. Officers found a resident stabbed and took the person to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. Risso, who was reportedly known to the victim, had left before officers arrived. Investigators recovered a weapon at the home and believed she might be in the Gilead Ridge area. Police had warned that she should be considered armed and dangerous and urged anyone who saw her not to approach, but to call 911. Her arrest in Florida came two days after the stabbing, taking the search beyond the Huntersville area while North Carolina authorities await her return.
