Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Acting Superintendent Melissa Balknight will continue leading the district on an interim basis until the school board selects a permanent superintendent, CMS announced Thursday, Oct. 8. Balknight’s agreement means she will stay on during the search for a successor to Crystal Hill. The district did not provide a timeline for the board’s selection in its announcement. The decision extends the leadership transition at CMS, North Carolina’s largest school district, while the board works to appoint its next permanent superintendent.
