Charlotte protest case: William Stanley gets probation and community-service sentence
William Stanley was sentenced to one year of probation after his conviction in a protest outside Charlotte’s Department of Homeland Security building. He must also complete 50 hours of community service and pay a fine.
CHARLOTTE — William Stanley was sentenced Thursday, Oct. 8, to one year of probation following his conviction for assaulting a federal officer during an immigration protest in Charlotte.
Stanley was convicted last month for his encounter with federal agents outside the Department of Homeland Security building. The protest took place during Operation Charlotte’s Web, an immigration enforcement operation in the city.
Along with probation, Stanley must complete 50 hours of community service and pay a fine. The amount of the fine was not specified.
Heather Morrow, who was also convicted in connection with the incident, had not been sentenced as of Thursday.
