Residents in parts of Gastonia may soon see delivery drones flying over their neighborhoods after Walmart completed a drone delivery facility at its store at 223 N. Myrtle School Road, the city said Oct. 11, 2026. The service is expected to reach eligible customers within an approximately 6-mile radius of the store. The city said it shared the information so residents would know why drones may be visible nearby. Walmart plans to provide further details about the operations directly to the public, including through informational tables at the North Myrtle School Road store and participation in upcoming community events. The company has not yet announced when deliveries will begin or provided other operating details in the information released by the city.
