CMS aide arrested in alleged threat against Metro School staff
A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools teacher assistant was arrested Oct. 8 after allegedly threatening to shoot employees at Metro School in Uptown Charlotte, according to an arrest warrant. The warrant says the alleged threat was made Sept. 21. It does not explain what prompted it. Ashley Monique Armstrong, 38, was charged with communicating a threat of mass violence on educational property. CMS said in a message to Metro School families on Oct. 9 that Armstrong was no longer employed by the district following her arrest. The district said it could not share more details, citing school board policy and state law, and said students’ and staff members’ safety remained its top priority. Metro School serves students with cognitive disabilities. The available information does not specify whether the school or district took any additional safety measures.
