CMPD investigates fatal motorcycle-SUV collision on Wilkinson Boulevard
Wildt Hardin, 21, died after his motorcycle collided with a Chevrolet Blazer in west Charlotte on Friday night. Police say speed was a factor, and investigators are still assessing whether impairment played a role.
A 21-year-old motorcyclist died Friday night after a crash involving an SUV on Wilkinson Boulevard in Charlotte, police said.
The collision happened around 8:32 p.m. Oct. 23 in the 2300 block of Wilkinson Boulevard. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department investigators said Wildt Hardin was riding a Yamaha motorcycle outbound on the boulevard at a high rate of speed when 26-year-old Lanaija Brown was turning left from Wilkinson Boulevard onto West Morehead Street in a Chevrolet Blazer.
Officers found Hardin in the roadway with life-threatening injuries. MEDIC took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
CMPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit is investigating. Police said their investigation established that speed was a factor; they have not determined whether Hardin was impaired.
