Charlotte crews monitor natural gas leak at Tryon and Bland intersection
Firefighters responded Saturday to a damaged natural gas line at South Tryon and West Bland streets. Piedmont Natural Gas was called to make repairs, while officials asked people not to call 911 just to report the odor from the incident.
Charlotte firefighters responded Saturday, Oct. 24, to a damaged natural gas line at the intersection of South Tryon and West Bland streets. Crews were monitoring the area as a precaution, and Piedmont Natural Gas had been notified and was on its way to handle repairs, Charlotte Fire said.
People nearby could notice the smell of natural gas. Fire officials asked residents and businesses not to call 911 solely to report the odor related to the leak, saying the emergency communications center was already receiving a high volume of calls about the incident.
The cause of the damage had not been released. Charlotte Fire said Piedmont Natural Gas would provide further information about the repair work.
